[attr="class","largeleft"] [attr="class","largehover"] [attr="class","uglyhoverinside"] [attr="class","bioheader"]personality. [attr="class,"bioentry"]Phe is a meticulous, methodical young woman, cautious yet calculating, intelligent and most definitely icy. Her cynicism and unwillingness to trust combined made her a rather unsociable and unapproachable person growing up. She considers herself to be private and guarded, never rushing to disclose anything unless absolutely necessary. Like her mother, she maintains an elegant yet mysterious air about her, while like her father, she is strong willed, passionate and blunt. The ice queen has a touch of a sarcastic side to her, with a little sass thrown in there. She cannot and will not pass up the chance to roll her eyes at something or someone. With those she’s comfortable around, she’s quite abrasive, in that she enjoys teasing them and their choices. outright. When something catches her interest, however, she is relentless and will not give up on it. She's obsessive and compulsive. She is a control freak and a perfectionist. And always insists on being right. [attr="class","bioheader"]likes, dislikes, hobbies. [attr="class,"bioentry"]Phe is a lover of books: collecting, reading, writing, and in some cases, illustrating them. She’s drawn her whole life, something she shared with her father, and art has always brought her solace in hard times.[break]Music has always been a strong passion of hers, being thrown into playing instruments as a child. Classical music lulled her to sleep, when Elspeth wasn't singing to her, and it reminds her of good times with her parents.[break]Phe finds comfort within nature, however, and likes to surround herself with trees and flowers. You'll find she's nicer with animals than she is with people.[break]She dislikes and is afraid of horses. As a child, she was thrown from one and broke her wrist. In spite of this fear, however, her grandmother insisted on her knowing how to ride and she was forced to continue her lessons.[break]She's not one for starting a fight, she's always been on the frailer, sickly side. However, when it's for a cause she strongly believes in, she will gladly pick up a sword or knife and do a little damage.[break]Anything with a strong scent, she can't stand. She's dealt with having a sharp sense of smell for a while, certain scents making her feel physically ill, and in some cases, causing her to be sick. Overly sweet and bitter flavors, too, can set her off.[break]Nothing terrifies her more than small, tight, dark and enclosed spaces. She has suffered from panic attacks since the day her mother disappeared and was locked inside the cubby space beneath the stairs. In all homes she's lived in, she's had the doors removed from any closet or small room. [break]Although she enjoys being around nature, she is not a fan of spiders or snakes. [breal]Her hobbies include, but are not limited to: learning as much as possible, especially dead languages and about downworlders; collecting gothic art; sketching, like her father; gardening, like her mother; dancing; traveling to new and exciting places; cooking new meals, although she may not be the one to eat them. [attr="class","bioheader"]history. [attr="class,"bioentry"]Losing everything is hard for any child to accept. It’s especially hard to accept when the answers that are given don’t make any sense at all.[break]Phillipa Merryweather was treated like a princess within her family, she was the only girl and to them, she was more precious to them than any jewel or gold could ever be. This was how she felt when she finally had a child, when she finally had Orpheya. Elias, her husband, had always wanted a son and had been told, on many occasions, that the child Phillipa was carrying would be the son he had long since dreamed of. The two had tried, relentlessly, to conceive by conventional and unconventional means, but they did not have the luck that either of their parents had. [break]The pregnancy was unexpected, it was trialling for Phillipa, both on her body and mental health. On the night of the Winter Solstice, Phe made her grand entrance. When the baby made no sound, however, the woman could have died on the spot. But, as unpredictable as she would grow up to be, the baby let out a whimper before her cry broke out and filled the room, spurring everyone to break their hearts with her. [break]Orpheya was purposefully isolated and sheltered by everyone to protect her, as she would be constantly reminded while growing up. She was a sickly child, frail and treated like a little doll by the staff her parents hired to look after her. She was loved by Phillipa and Elias, endlessly, even if they didn’t always have the time for her. Her father’s blossoming career and aspirations to become Consul limited his time at their country home with his daughter and wife. And with Phillipa’s commitments to the business the Merryweather family ran, she was always working in her office.[break]Among the staff hired by the Ravensfair for Phe’s benefit was a young woman named Elspeth, whose sole purpose was to cater to every need that Phe could ever have. Elsie, as Phe would grow up calling her, became the girl’s best friend and confidante, not to mention, more of a mother figure than her own mother was. She treated Phe like she was her own child, not just a charge she was paid to take care of. The two formed an inseparable bond, one that Phe would later be extremely grateful she had.[break][break]Young Orpheya had limited access to the world outside of her family estate. She never visited her grandparents at the Institute they ran, they always came to her in Idris. She never visited the capital, where her father worked. She was so isolated that she never met another child her age. She was lonely, even with her Elsie and the staff.[break]Just as Elias was sure he’d be elected as Consul, he decided to throw a party to help sway votes. The event was to encapsulate everything he wished to bring to his aspired role, but he also wanted to showcase his pretty daughter to the people he worked with, boast a little about her. Until then, he’d been very secretive about her. It just so happened that her eighth birthday would fall on the same night the party was to be held.[break]To Phe, this was the most exciting thing in the world. She’d meet people who weren’t paid to like her, who weren’t paid to be there. Perhaps her father’s friends would bring their children and she could make friends. Real children who would be her age, or thereabouts, and they could be her friends.[break]During the early hours of December 21st, after everyone had followed their nighttime routines, going to bed and falling into peaceful slumbers, a noise broke out from the master suite. Elias’s terrified screams filled the house, waking everyone from the kitchen staff on the ground floor to Elspeth in her little tower room in the attic. His room was covered from head to toe in blood, everything was a mess, nothing was as it should have been. And Phillipa was nowhere to be found.[break]The staff within the home searched high and low, all over the grounds, trying to find the lady of the house, but no one could find her. There was no trace of Phillipa anywhere. And to make matters worse, no one could find Orpheya. Elias was infuriated. Someone had the sheer arrogance to not only target his wife, but his daughter, too? It was no secret that he had a mean streak, he had once been known for it, however, it was thought that becoming a father had gotten rid of that side of him. The thought of losing both Phillipa and Phe drove him out of his mind with anger. The Gard and his fellow Clave members had all been contacted, but his rage and grief sent him over the edge, he began attacking staff members, accusing them of harming his wife and child.[break][break]Orpheya was discovered later that day, thankfully, not a hair on her head harmed. She somehow managed to get herself stuck in a secret closet that the staff had been unaware of, and all she told Elsie was, ’The bad things can’t find me in there, Mommy said so’. This led the woman to believe that perhaps Phe had been hidden there by her mother, to protect her from something. Or someone. However, Phillipa was still nowhere to be found. The girl was unaware of her mother’s disappearance or of what had happened or that her father had had a complete mental breakdown over it. Elias was taken into the Gard, at first to question him regarding his wife’s disappearance and to hopefully calm him down, but after some time and a little investigation from an Inquisitor, things between Elias and Phillipa were looking rather rocky. According to an anonymous source, Phillipa had been against her husband’s early celebratory party, she did not want outsiders on their estate. She especially didn’t want anyone she hadn’t hired personally around Orpheya. It had apparently caused an argument between the couple unlike anything the source had seen before. But, she gave in to her husband’s wishes. Rumors started to spread that Elias had done something to Phillipa, that he had killed her and hidden her remains somewhere on the property.[break]After new broke of Phe’s secret hiding place, Inquisitors tore the Ravensfairs’ country estate apart, searching the remains of the ‘late’ Phillipa Merryweather. More rumors spread, regarding Phillipa’s choice not to undertake her husband’s name, regarding their secret child, regarding their entire marriage and life together. Before long, it seemed that Elias Ravensfair was to be charged for the murder and improper disposal of the remains of his wife, Phillipa Merryweather. And, the sentence for murdering a fellow Shadowhunter would be execution.[break]Elias gave his all in denying every accusation, he swore to the Angels that he would never hurt his wife, he would never take her life or rob his daughter of her mother. But his cries and denial was seen as a guilty man trying to avoid the culling line. The Ravensfair family pushed for further investigation, as did the Merryweather family, however, on the morning of August 13th 2010, the very day that Elias and Phillipa should have been celebrating fifteen years of being happily married and eight entire months of destroying the man’s reputation, Elias Ravensfair was executed.[break][break]Following the disappearance of her mother and the wrongful imprisonment and execution of her father, Phe had been placed into the custody of her paternal grandparents, while they kept Elsie on staff as a comfort to their granddaughter. They remained at the Ravensfair estate in the countryside, continuing to isolate Phe, as was her mother’s wishes. Phillipa had always been certain that Phe was too frail to withstand things typical little shadowhunter girls could withstand, such as training to become warriors. And so, they continued to withhold tasks that would have been deemed ‘too difficult’ or ‘too dangerous’ for her, with the exception of horse riding. This happened to be the one thing that Phe wished her grandparents had been against, because she was terrified of horses, almost as much as closets or other small rooms with a door that could trap her. She’d fallen off one too many times and had broken bones, but her grandparents insisted, her grandfather especially, insisted she get back on the horse, even if she was scared of them.[break]As she got a little older, following receiving her Marks, the young girl managed to convince Elsie to teach her a little sword work, how to wield a dagger, throw a punch, anything that would aid in protecting her even a little. Phe had made the decision that she wanted to travel, once she was old enough, and study abroad. She had learned everything she could learn from her family home, she’d spent sixteen years trapped within the walls of the Ravensfair Estate. She was determined to make her grandparents agree.[break]It took the best part of a year to somehow convince them that it would be good for her. Orpheya even enlisted Elsie’s help, once again, volunteering the woman to be her chaperone. Little did she know, her grandparents and Elsie had already been discussing her future. And they had an entirely different outlook on what would happen going forth. She was almost old enough to get married and they believed it was in her best interests to orchestrate an arranged marriage. Elsie was against the idea of marrying Phe off, however, it wasn’t her place to argue with them. She had no control over her life or the decisions that were made for her. Even though it wasn’t her place, Elsie proposed that they allow Phe the freedom she desired, to travel while being chaperoned, to study at different Institutes, to learn and to do what she wanted, while they went ahead with their plans of finding a suitor.[break]Although she’s grown into a beautiful young woman, some can’t see by her father’s ‘crimes’ and it’s hindered her grandparents mission. As well as her maternal grandparents being wholly against it and putting in every effort to prevent it as best they can. Orpheya figured it out pretty quickly when she was approached by one of the young men who had been ‘handpicked’ by her grandmother shortly after they made it to Lisbon. He’d tried to invite her out on something he called a dinner date. The inexperienced young woman had never met a young man her own age, much less been on a dinner date. With no care for his feelings, Orpheya shot him down. She hadn’t intended to be cruel. She had no social skills, she’d never been to a social event, she’d lived her whole life until a few weeks prior to the invitation in isolation. Not to mention, Phe had better things to do with her time, such as look into ways of solving mysteries, disappearances, clearing people’s names. Thankfully, though, Elsie managed to smooth it out, while scolding him for being too forward and improper. From then on, however, Phe received multiple invitations, formal and informal, all from men her grandparents had looked into as potential husbands. The few who were more preoccupied by her looks than her history would invite her out, attempting to strike up conversation, but Phe’s icy nature pushed them away. Soon enough, they were referring to her as the ice queen.[break][break]Phe adores New York City, so much so that she’s returned multiple times. Although she lacks the necessary social skills to survive in the city, Phe has come to think of it as a second home. But what she loves most about the city is that she can come into such close proximity with downworlders of all kinds. She’s hopeful that through these downworlders, and with the help of others who frequent the Institute, she can fulfill a promise she made during her visit there. The promise to her parents that she would figure out what actually happened to her mother and clear her father’s name, for good. Maybe when she’s done that, she’ll consider looking into finding a husband. But only then, and most definitely not before.
